Elisa, a hammock weaver
Elisa, whom you can see in the videos below, has incredible skill in making crocheted fringes. She explains that she learned this technique from her mother, who herself learned from her own mother, and so on. This is how the artisanal tradition is passed down from generation to generation.
Where is Nicaragua?
Nicaragua is a Central American country located between Honduras to the north and Costa Rica to the south. It is bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. To the south is Lake Nicaragua, which is about 148 km long and 55 km wide. Nicaragua also has 40 volcanoes, including Momotombo volcano, which is located in the northwestern lowlands surrounding the lakes.
