Mexican XL Hammock “Carmen”: The hammock that is over 1000 years old!
The hammock, a prestigious object and hierarchical symbol during the pre-Columbian period in Mesoamerica and the Northern Andes, spread throughout the region to a large part of South America (Amazon basin, South American tropical forests) and Central America (Mexico, Guatemala...) before the 15th century. When the first Western explorers reached the "new world," the hammock was widely used as a sleeping method by all social classes. Today, it is commonly used by many indigenous people, not only for sleeping but also for various activities. The Mexican hammock is one of the most popular hammocks.

Why Mexican hammocks stand out
It's hard to say that Mexican hammocks like this XL "Carmen" hammock are better than all other hammocks, as each type of hammock has its advantages and disadvantages depending on the use and preferences of each person. However, it is true that Mexican hammocks have distinctive characteristics that make them very popular and appreciated by many users.
A unique and attractive design for a Mexican net hammock
Mexican hammocks are distinguished by their unique net-like woven design. Descendants of the Mayans, these hammocks come in a wide range of colors and patterns, making them aesthetically very attractive. Their open-mesh structure facilitates air circulation, making them perfect for enduring heat while allowing natural ventilation. They are particularly suitable for people who sweat a lot and enjoy resting outdoors. Additionally, the stretchy material can help distribute weight more evenly, thus offering extra comfort.
A portable Mexican hammock for outdoor use
Stretchable net Mexican hammocks are also very lightweight and easy to transport, making them an ideal choice for campers and hikers. Finally, this type of hammock is often easy to set up and take down, which makes it practical for outdoor use. To choose your attachments, visit the page: My Attachments.
Cultural Anecdote: The Origin of the Term "Gringo"
Did you know? The term "gringo" originated during the occupation of Mexico by American troops in 1914. The soldiers were dressed in green, and the local population called them "green go" (the green ones, leave!). Even after the soldiers left, the expression remained. It is common to hear people call you "chele," which is the inversion of the word "leche" (milk) in slang, referring to the fair skin color of foreigners. "Gringo" is generally considered more pejorative than "chele."
